Love this pattern. Great prospect for entering into the fair. Uses fingering weight yarn.

07/09/13 - happy early birthday to me!! Picked up the yarn on clearance from Hobby Lobby. I do not ususally like this color, but for some reason I fell in love with this yarn in this color. And it being on sale is a bonus.

I copied the pattern out of the magazine via copy machine. Slipped the pages into plastic sheet protectors in a 3 prong pocket notebook (like we used in school :) ).
This way I can keep my copy of the magazine nice and pretty, and do not have to worry about ruining my original copy of the pattern.

Using highlighters to highlight pattern repeats.
Since every even row is simply a garter stitch border and purling across pattern repeats… I only highlighted the odd rows. Highlighting each row a different color helps me to not get rows mixed up.

Post it notes to jot down any special details that I need to know from the written instructions while following the chart.

Assembled all needed materials in my knitting tote. Starting swatch tomorrow morning.

Using size 7 Addi Turbo Lace 40” circulars.

07/10/13 did gauge swatch over 30 stitches. 6 edge stitches plus 24 stitches for 2 - 12 st pattern repeat. I knit the 24 row pattern twice. Next time I will put in a life line after every 6 or 12 rows. This pattern seems to be pretty simple once you get the feel for it.

Used the swatch to practice the edging. I will also put in a life line after the last row of the pattern repeat just incase I drop a stitch when doing the edging.

Edging is knit back and forth in rows and joined to the body by k2tog on wrong side… 1 stitch from edging and 1 stitch from last pattern row. It is alot like doing short rows. Row 1 of edging is wrong side, and attatches to the wrong side of work - but working by attatching the edging from left to right. Kind of confusing but once it is worked a few rows it makes sense.

And the resulting edging is worth it. It is beautiful.

7/10 Casting on and starting chart of rows 1-24 for body.

Cast on using Judy’s magic Cast on using long circulars and magic loop method.

07/11 Finished 1st 24 row repeat. - Lifeline

Row 19 of body proves to be a little tricky.

07/15/13 Finished 2nd 24 row repeat of body chart. - Lifeline placed

7/26/13 Finished 3rd row repeat.Lifeline placed and started 4th.

07/29/13 Finished 4th 24 row repeat. Life line placed. Starting on 5th.

Well… part time job cut into knitting time. I didn’t finish in time for the county fair. Will continue to finish it for state fair.

11/17/13 Been working on this off and on. Finally finished main body. Started on edging this evening. The edging takes concentration and I will need time to work on this with no distraction. (yeah right… with kids around? )

07/12-14
Finally finished! 1 year and a few days in the making. Now to weave in the ends and block it. I will make it again.

07/28/14 Valios is washed and blocking. This one was very emotional for me. I loved the pattern. I will make this again.
