4 strands held together (2 ecru, 2 black) form the large houndstooth pattern done in fair isle in this oversized sweater and fitted skirt. 4 strands of worsted makes for a very durable, nicely bodied fabric that ought to wear for years. Using needles recommended to achieve that nicely bodied fabric, the project needed to be reconfigured with my gauge. The rest of the project knitted up easily enough with the sweater knitted in pieces and seamed while the skirt was worked in the round.
I did reinforce the bottom of the sweater with elastic thread and the neckline with seam tape for durability sake as I suspect heavy wear and tear with the act of pulling on and off as I wear.
The entire ensemble fits beautifully and satisfyingly fulfills a 24 year old dream! (VK pattern from 1988)
