8.22.14 Looks like I didn’t include any notes for a while. Well, it all came together and I found some gorgeous Celtic designs that I’m pretty sure I’ll use for another double knitted project- I have so much yarn left over!! Think I’ll make something else with this particular color combination- it’s so vivid. :)
5.2.14 I’ve uploaded a screen shot of the video I made of this project- feel free to watch the 20 seconds of showing it off! I’ve knit a few inches now, and am rather dismayed to realize that the ‘huge’ 90X90 bat motif isn’t going to take up the entire back at all. In fact, it may only go up to the armhole. So I’m needing to figure out what else to put above it. If I had it to do over again, I’d center the bats, but I just didn’t realize that while the width would be right, the height wouldn’t-- though with more rows to the inch than stitches going across, I probably could have figured that out. Live and learn. Ah well.
4.12.14 I’ve uploaded a couple of pics of my inspiration for the patterning in the vest. I’ve checked and re-checked my math and really hope that it won’t end up ginormous or too small. But I’ve cast on, and am on the 3rd row. From front right to back to left right now the motifs are: art deco, bats, elephant. Should be really, really cool!
4.10.14 I finished my gauge swatch! Out of focus pictures available. :P Anyway, my gauge is just what I’d hoped for, 4 stitches to the inch. Now to graph out the vest I’m designing. Though at only 4 stitches per inch, the massive 90 stitch across bat motif I was thinking of may cause me to rethink the whole design. Hmmmmmm.
