10.21.12 Starting my gauge swatch today!
11.18.12 I adore this pattern. I did the back while at SteamCon in Seattle, and now I’m about 2/3 the way through both sleeves. The pattern is great and I love this reclaimed yarn most especially. The color doesn’t do it justice; it’s a rich merlot tweed. Yummy.
12.21.12 I’m on the last few inches of the hood! No doubt I’ll be wearing it very soon… except I haven’t bought a zipper. Oooops.
12.30.12 It’s finished, and I must admit that I’m disappointed. I really like the design, but either I didn’t follow it well, or I’m just not shaped the right way for it. I do have a narrow ribcage and shoulders, but the top fits very, very oddly. I’ve basically run a basting thread through the top to close up the front and the pic of me with the hood shows how wide it is. The picture of my partner in it shows what it should look like, I believe. I’ll still wear it, but if I were to make it again (which I might- I do love the cabling!) I’d modify it with no hood and radically downsize the front for the last several inches, and I’d have the top come up higher. Maybe I mis-read, but I don’t think so. Anyway, it’s still gorgeous and was made from re-purposed yarn, so aside from the $4 zipper, this was a super inexpensive project.
