yarn was a gift from jeffinambler from 2013 MSWF ~ trying to get my groove on with this whole sock business :)
6-3-2013 : half a leg done…love the pattern and the yarn…the cables are lost in the variegation but I guess they’re more of a functional element than a visual element so I’m trying to not let it bother me too much
06-10-2013 : one down, one to go :)
06-16-13 : they are a tiny bit too big but not enough to keep me from putting them on the minute I finished them even though it’s 70 degrees outside :))
project notes:
- started with 103.5g of yarn
- longtail cast on (same size needle)
- ribbing ~ 17st on each of 4 dp needles
- I did k1fb for M1 increases since pattern didn’t specify
- leg ~ 19st on each of 4 needles
- 20repeats=6”to top ankle (used 19.0g total to here)
- redistribute st for heel flap - needle 1 & 2 (’top’) - needle1=19st : needle2(slid 1 st to needle 3)=18st :: needle 3 & 4 (’back’) - needle3=20st : needle4=19st
- heel flap=2.25” : used 4.0g
- the darn short row section - 2 days of fiddling with the directions (do you wrap stitches, not wrap stitches, very confused!) so finally did a different (& hopefully correct) alternative ~ I did end up with the correct # of stitches and rows when completed: Row1-sl1wyib,k21,ssk,k1,turn : Row2-sl1wyif,p6,p2tog,p1,turn : Row3-sl1wyib,k7,ssk,k1,turn : Row4-sl1,p8,p2tog,p1,turn : etcetera, ending with purl row and all st worked (23st)
- gusset decreases section : did per pattern except I knit into the back of the picked up stitches each side to tighten them (except on the ssk and k2tog decreases ~ did those normal)
- from end of heel flap to end of gusset decrease section : used 5.0g
- foot length to 7.75” before starting toe decreases
- toe decreases every other row to 14 st and then knit across needle 1 before doing kitchener
- end of gusset decrease section to end of toe : used 12.0g
- total yarn used sock #1 = 40g
- total yarn used sock #2 = 39.5g
