Notes

beautiful pattern ~ my short neck can’t accomodate this big lovely collar so I have to wear it folded over but it’s still sooooo cute!!!!!

Helpful hints:

  • the edging charts don’t say which way to bind off so I cast off purlwise on left chart and cast off knitwise on right chart
  • lower edging (first pattern repeats with right side facing you): I slipped stitches rows 2 & 8 with yarn on wrong side of vest (tried it on right side and didn’t like how it looked)
  • lower edging (second pattern repeats with wrong side facing you): I slipped stitches rows 2 & 8 with yarn brought to right side of vest
  • raglan shaping: p.5 says ‘on next RS row,… and then says ‘repeat last 2 rounds’ ~ I think there’s a line missing between ~ after ‘on next RS row’ instructions it should say ‘WS row ~ knit in established pattern (no decreases)
  • sleeves: I made the smallest size and it says there should be 54 st picked up but I did the math & came up with 62 stitches (also, I cast off purlwise on sleeves ~ liked the look better than knitwise)
  • 3 needle bind off on collar: I did it with right sides together so the seam is on the inside and I worked from the top of the lace towards the body of vest so that there were lots of places to weave loosed ends in
  • I also did 2 extra body section repeats to make it longer ~ the original is much too cropped for me (I also need to invest in a scale ~ I have enough yarn left that I could have done 1 more pattern repeat than I did but I wasn’t sure at the time)

blocking pictures are with wrong side facing up

holy cow, I’m a tight knitter…still ~ my gauge is 5st=1” so I did 2 extra chart repeats for the smallest size before dividing for armholes

I’m loving the yarn ~ it has a great feel to it ~ but I’m worried about how bulky it’s knitting up. I’ve gotten so used to laceweight projects, one right after the other, that I feel like I’m using bulky and not worsted weight!

I bought the yarn just for this project last summer and got extra yardage to make it longer instead of cropped as written

the downside of rav and modeling your FO’s…it makes me notice how big my nose is getting and how my face is starting to slowly melt (I probably shouldn’t get a shar-pei since then I would look like my dog) ~ I feel like I’m 25 til I take a look at these rav photos and remember that 45 is just a few months away….ouch!
