Notes

I started these socks as both a reward (I finished up Patrick’s green dragon in time for his birthday) and a consolation (my sister flew back home this morning). This is one of the yarns she gave me by hiding it in my Christmas tree. I didn’t even notice it. Hubby found it Christmas morning.

The pattern is I think the first thing I ever queued. Or at least it’s been on the queue the longest, so I thought it finally deserved some attention. I’m using mods here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jamie12/southwestern-socks.

I’m not too sure I like this heel treatment. Half of me wants to rip it back and do my normal short-row heel, but the other half says I should give it a chance and do things differently for a change.

6-17-10 update. I’m trying to finish up this first sock so I can use the needles for some Nagini’s for quite possibly the fair since every other pair I try to make for the fair I end up miscrossing a cable on. As for the heel on this one, it’s totally staying. It looks rather, well frankly, not that pretty, but fits like a dream, and pardon the cliche, looks better on. Hopefully I took good enough notes to be able to duplicate it for the second sock. I think if perhaps I go quickly I may be able to go ahead and finish the second one of these before starting the Nagini. Unless the Nagini calls to me too loudly…
