Notes

4/21/16 The Merinda pattern has now been released! Please note that it has been reworked and retested since I made mine. Several of the version 1 testers ran short on yarn, so Ambah adjusted things.

2/8/16 Finally wove in all the ends. It’s currently blocking. I blocked it even larger than the pattern calls for. That just seemed to be how the yarn wanted to be. Plus, I love a giant wrap! I will get some better pics later today after it dries. I squeezed as much water out of it as I possibly could, both to prevent any bleeding from the Fathom and to help it block as quickly as possible!

1/17/16 Just bound off. I used all but about a yard of the MTL Big Sur. I knit the shawl on US5s and used a spare US9 dpn sitting around to bind off. It’ll probably be a few days before I weave in the ends and block it as I have a couple other projects I’ve neglected in favor of this :) I loooooove it! I can’t wait to block it and see how it blooms.

Working with the MTL was really nice--it’s the first time I’ve used it. The Big Sur colorway is a lot softer than the Fathom, for whatever reason, but washing and blocking might even things out.

I’m very happy with the pattern. It’s easy but the striping helps keep it interesting, and it really flew off the needles. This would be great for an advanced beginner (I only say advanced because it would be good to have developed some consistency in tension before undertaking so much garter stitch).

I really love how these colors work together. It’s a little unorthodox to throw KPM in with MTL but I’m very happy with it. I love how the semisolid green both melds with and stripes against the Big Sur and the Fathom gives it a great pop of color that adds to the graphic quality of the pattern. I think this pattern would look awesome in a gradient or a long striping yarn like Noro paired with a semisolid.

Due 2/8/16.
