Notes

7/9/16 These are done except giving them a wash and blocking.

I followed the pattern pretty closely. The only changes I made were to pick up one additional stitch on each side of the heel flap. I added one extra decrease round to accommodate. I made the cuffs a bit longer than the pattern called for. Also, I grafted the toes together right after the last decrease round instead of knitting one additional round.

I had intended these to be a size large, for me. However, I didn’t bother to check my gauge. I always get 8 sts/“ on US1s with sock yarn! Well, that sure wasn’t the case this time! I got almost 10 sts/”. So, they turned out on the snug side! I’ll give them to my mom, provided they fit her (they should).

I liked this pattern a lot. It’s very clearly written and provides instructions for multiple sizes. Plus, you can’t beat free! The pattern provides just the right amount of texture to work with just about any kind of yarn. I expect it would look really nice with a variegated sock yarn.

I like the colors and the striping of the yarn I used, but I’m not sold on the texture. It feels fairly coarse so far. I’m hoping it will soften up after washing. I will update my notes on that later.
