Notes

8/14/15 I wove in the last few ends and trimmed the rest. I left a good bit of length on them and will trim them again after it’s gone through the wash. I used this technique from TECHknitter to weave in most of the ends as I went. I had my daughter try it on--it’s a little big, but I think it will fit her really well in a year or so.

8/12/15 This ended up being a quick knit! I just finished casting off. I’m guessing a lot at the yardage--there’s no yardage listed on the yarn label, so I’m going based on average yardage from similar yarns. It used almost exactly one skein of each color.

8/9/15 Cast on to have something basic to work on between other projects. I’m just using two colors and eliminating any of the purl stitch detailing in the original pattern in order to streamline the look a bit. The yarn I’m using is actually more DK than sport, and it has way more acrylic in it than I usually like, but it’s actually knitting up pretty well. I’m hoping the skirt will be very resilient! My daughter should be able to wear it through the winter (despite the name) as it has some wool in it.

A note on the chart: I haven’t used many charts before, and this one threw me for a bit of a loop. There’s a forum thread here that was helpful to me. Basic idea is to start each round at the dotted line, read from right to left, and repeat areas between the bold lines. You will have a partial repeat at the beginning and end of each round. Ignore the leftmost column past the bold line--it’s meant to alert you to the next stitch up, not be a separate stitch outside of the repeats.
