MODS with the (invaluable) help of KNITTINGinHI:

--Started knitting with CC after Row 4 of the 11th repeat instead of going all the way thru Row 8. (221sts)
--Row 101: With CC, k4, [kf&b, k1, kf&b, k1] to last 8 sts, [kf&b, k1, kf&b, k1], k4 (760 sts)
--going forward, changed all “8” stitch counts to “6” and all “12” stitch counts to “10”
--knit thru Row 105, then repeated Row 102 and Row 103, then BO on wrong side using Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. I ran out of MC yarn with 25 sts left. I had to find a long stretch of brown on the CC and finish my BO with that. One thing to note regarding Jenny’s SSBO, it results in a really sturdy edging making blocking much easier.

-- a note about shorting the shawl. Because I stopped in the middle of the repeat, I lost the continuity of the center line into a slipped stitch column. Not a huge deal but it means that I have an even number of points which making my point “balance” off.

-- ah…yes. Forgot to mention that the bind off took me over 2 hours and I didn’t have the full 1,000+ sts at the end. :-)

So excited to make this. This will be a sample for Dani to take to Stitches West…then it will be mine. :-)

Ok - it’s off the blocking wires and I love it! Because I had to shorten the edging, the points aren’t as long as the pattern pics. Is it wrong that I want to press all the edging to make it more accordion like?

01/30/11 - knitting done and on the blocking wires. This is my first semi circle shawl and it was hard to figure out how to block this (at first). Despite running out of yarn and having to shorten this, it’s still a really good size and plenty big enough for me. Colors are little off in the blocking pics because pics were taken indoors at night.

01/26/11 - 7 repeats down. I’m already afraid I’m gonna run out of yarn for the MC. I’m gonna have to do some fudging toward the end I think.

01/21/11 - had to cast on before knitting tomorrow. I needed something a little easier than cables and charts to work on during the BKC holiday party.

Boy does this grow fast! I knitted 4 repeats already.
