My first steeking project. I admit I’m nervous. I’d planned to heavily modify the project for fingering weight yarn but I actually got gauge holding the yarn double!

I followed the suggestion to use a tubular cast on. I first planned to use Ysolda’s method but then I chose Techknitter’s method - that way I didn’t have to guess how long a tail I’d need for the cast on. If you like the long-tail cast on, then it’s really easy to pick up the Techknitter version.

Oh, and my Holz & Stein needle “died” during the circular knitting section. Boo. I had to save all those stitches on a thin circular, but at least I didn’t have bazillions of dropped stitches.

February 2013: I didn’t manage to finish this before heading out of town, bummer. Unfortunately this won’t be finished while it’s still plenty cold outside. But he likes it anyway.
