Notes

I’ve been planning to knit an Elijah, and since I didn’t have the time to make a baby layette set, I had the perfect excuse to knit up another of Ysolda’s pattern. I’d already knit a Sophie and an Otto, but of all her softies, Elijah is my favorite. I had a hard time parting with it in the end. And I think my sister will be making a play for another Elijah - and if not her, then my sister’s friend is already standing in line.

As to the project notes - I missed a set of decreases on the trunk, and instead made a double set of decreases on the last round of decreases of the trunk. So my trunk is seven rounds shorter than in the pattern. I also insterted pipe cleaner wrapped with stuffing in the trunk - that way I was able to shape and bend the trunk to my liking.

Furthermore it’s really important to not stuff the arms and legs to tightly at the join with the body, otherwise the arms and legs will stretch away stiffly, and you can’t easily place them however you’d like. I used very little stuffing, but then used again more stuffing later along the arms and legs.

Last but not least I used felt for the eyes - my past experience with the other softies showed me that the eyes just looked to small when I made a french knot. I glued the felt eyes on and I left the choice of stitching of the eyes with embroidery floss to the mom. It gives the eyes a raised effect, kinda life plastic safety eyes.
