Notes

The beginning was a bit fiddly since the yarn is really thin so the cast on and the p2tog demanded a bit of attention. I’m currently on the stockingette section and I’m just breezing along. I’m using the directions from purlbee - it’s just easier than remembering how to read the Japanese directions.

I followed the instructions, except at the end - I basically knit until all of the merino was used up. I assumed that I’d end up with pretty much the correct length since I’d bought the yarn and pattern as a Kusha Kusha kit from Habu in New York. I figured they’d have calculated the correct yardage for the project. Ultimately, though, I ended up with a longer scarf, and I still have some of the stainless steel yarn left. I’m wondering if they use this kit also for the Kusha Kusha shawl? I did get the Kusha Kusha scarf pattern in the kit, though.

I lightly felted the scarf - I wanted the stitch pattern to show through. If I’d felted the scarf more, I wouldn’t have gotten these curling edges, since the scarf felted to different degrees at the edges. But I really like this light curling effect.

The second photograph offers you a more detailed view of the steel, and the steel/merino felted section. I’m really happy with the finished scarf - the steel gives the scarf a springy-ness, plus you can kind of mold it however you want to. I’ll be knitting another one of these, this time for me.

Oh, and I did finish it during the Ravelympics, it’s just that I only took photographs afterwards, and I’ve only just uploaded them. Procrastination, I haz it.
