A full baby outfit set!
I didn’t knit a baby layette for nephew #1, so I was determined to knit a layette for this nephew. I showed my sister a bunch of baby romper options, but she wasn’t thrilled with any of them (absence of buttons to easily diaper the baby was the main problem). When I saw Jess’s freezer paper stenciled baby onesies, I figured I’d decorate a onesie instead.
One of these days I’ll play with freezer paper stencils, but this time around I decided to use the napkin decoupage technique (Serviettentechnik for all you Germans out there). I already had a hat, and little baby booties, and so I overdyed them at the same time as a baby onesie, for a matching shade of blue. I then cut out the piece of napkin (hooray for Paul Frank!), peeled off the top layer with the print, and affixed it with fabric decoupage glue (see last few photos).
I love the finished result - and I have a matching onesie to go with the booties and hat. Yay!
