8/6/11 Ok, now it’s time to tackle the grafting. Since I used the invisible cast on, I had to untwist every second stitch of the cast on row.

I cut a really really long tail of yarn for the grafting, as recommended in the pattern, but I really didn’t need all the length. The pattern also suggests grafting the stitches, but not pulling the length of yarn through until the end. I don’t think that’s a good idea, given the nature of the Kidsilk Haze. Instead I pulled the yarn through, making sure to keep enough tension, without puckering up the seam.

The grafting takes forever. And then the weaving the ends in is a bit of a challenge since you don’t want it to show up visible in the fabric.

The finished project is a bit longer than planned so it fits comfortable around my shoulders without stretching too much. I also have a lovely drape at the front. It’s beautiful and soft, and soooo light. Perfect to drape over a dress when it’s a bit cool at night, or to wear as a cowl.

6/11 Cast on 78 stitches - and I used the invisible cast on onto a spare Knitpicks interchangeable cable. That way it’s easier to graft the stitches together. I’m still not sure if I should graft the two ends together or if I should use a three needle bind off.

The yarn is so soft and light as a feather! It feels like it’ll blow away in a strong breeze. The first but not the last time that I’ll be knitting with Kidsilk Haze.
