These are the softest socks ever! Wearing these is like walking on clouds. I can’t believe I haven’t knit with Bugga! before, but now I’m totally on the band wagon.
I actually planned to use the yarn to knit a pair of Duckies socks. But even though a few people have Bugga yarn base, I decided that I’ll use a heavier sport weight yarn. So, after some poking around through patterns and finished objects, I decided on this pattern. I really like the combination of the yarn and pattern.
The pattern is actually quite easy to memorize, and the cables keep it from being boring. I pretty much followed the directions as written, except for the gusset and the final row of the pattern. Maybe I just didn’t get the instructions… I placed three stitches onto the cable needle, as the pattern states. Then I slipped the first stitch - the right-most stitch - from the cable needle to the right needle. Then I k2tog the first two stitches on the left needle, then passed the stitch from the cable needle over. I ended up with three decreased stitches, but it all looks correct.
I did an upside-down gusset as in my secret garden socks. I really prefer how that looks, and you don’t have a funny decrease line next to the ribbing of the pattern. Based on those instructions, I knit the first gusset row through the back loop to tighten up the stitches. Then I knit the k2tog and ssk at the beginning/end of the gusset stitches. As you can see in the close-up, it’s a cleaner look.
I’m really happy with the finished socks, and these will be my socks. They’re to pretty and comfortable to give away.
