I did a chain of 114 but it ended up too long, I tested it around my head to get an idea. I did do a rough measurement but don’t remember what it was exactly, 26 inches or so I think. I have now lessened the chains to 92 which I’m hoping will give me a headband of 21” approx. I measured my chain and I think its approx 21” so I’ll see how I go with this for size for now.

I have done my first round of DC so I have checked it for size, my cotton yarn does have some give to it. Measuring it flat its around 20” but it does stretch up to 21-22”. My friend Aimee said her head circumference (taken how you’d wear a head band) was around 21 1/2” and mine is around 22” I think. I checked this for size on my head and it does fit (as it does stretch slightly) so I’m hoping it will end up being a good fit for her :).

I did check my gauge, which was 5 dc to an inch which mine are so not sure why my starting chain measured too long but at least I have a headband that should fit :).

After a night of sleeping on it I decided I needed to lengthen my starting chain, I was worried that as I worked on it more than it would end up too tight. I did loose about an inch from my chain when doing my first round so I think a slightly longer chain is a good idea. So I’ve undone my work and started again, this time my chain is 98.

Top Tip: To avoid the problem of the twisted chain I do not slip stitch the chain together. I do my first round without it being joined and add the end of the first round I then join it together. To do this I get a needle and the tail of the yarn and use this to join it to the other chain side using what I think is called the invisible join. This works well and it’s quick and easy to do :) I then go back to the last dc stitch and join to the first and continue in a spiral as per pattern.

I’m going well so far and I’m much happier with the size :) just have to keep my fingers crossed it will fit my friend Aimee.

I’ve been busy working on it and I’m up to row 6 now, it’s looking great and I’m loving my single colour yarn. I need to decide soon how many rows to do, she did 12 nut I think that will make mine too big so I’ll need to decide how many more to add. It won’t be long till it’s finished though and I can’t wait to see it then!

This evening I finished this wrap, I would of been finished earlier if I hadn’t been so unwell the past few days (which meant no crochet). Today I felt able to do some this evening and this meant I was able to finish my wrap.

I did 8 rows for mine, as I decided that was wide enough. Looking at the pattern photos I wonder if her width was similar too, the only difference being the height of her rows were smaller. Either way I’m happy with the width and I think the wrap looks great.

Tomorrow I will add finished measurements and how much yarn I used, I do have some left but not sure how much till I weigh it. It did use less than I expected but as I said I don’t think doing mine with 12 rounds would of been a good idea.

I managed to get a few photos tonight, so I’ve added one collage. I hope to get more in better light tomorrow, to show off the lilac yarn better. I will also be sending this to my friend ASAP so she can take some photos of it being worn to show you :) (I would do this, only due to my illness I don’t have long hair or enough hair to show off a headband) so in a little while I’ll be able to add more photos too.

I enjoyed this pattern and I think it will make some lovely headbands. I do love my plain version but I do think it will look even better with multi colour yarn. I can see myself making more in the future, I’d love to try a variegated yarn. Oh and I personally think this pattern would look great in any yarn weight so I’m tempted to try other yarn weights for this too!

Last thing, I made this as part of testing this yarn and being able to review what it’s like. I’ll be working on the blog post soon and I’ll let you know when it’s been published. It’s been a pleasure to try this yarn and I can’t wait to tell you all about it :).

Blog post on the review of this yarn now live on my website :).

Apologise for the delay, I got ill with the Flu and took me a while to recover before I was able to write my review. Hope you’ll feel it was worth the wait!

To see this blog post look at the tabs at the top where you’ll see blog posts, if you click on this it will show you a link to my blog post all about this yarn and project.
