Pattern Testing this hat pattern in size 0-3 months.
Loved making this hat and I just love the colour combo. It fits my newborn size reborn perfectly. I think this hat looks good with and without the pom pom :-) as I tested it for size before I’d added the pom pom so you can actually get a guide of how it looks without one.
Easy to make, instructions easy to understand and follow. Don’t forget to match the designers gauge if you want to have the correct size hat. I did a gauge square beforehand and was able to match it using my 6mm hook although I did have to remember to tighten my height more than I usually do. Make sure to check size as you go along, as you’ll see I did from my photos.
Top Tip
When using the chenille Chunky yarn make sure to tie a knot in the end, this stops all the fluff coming off. What I do is join the chenille yarn (in your preferred way) and then I tie a knot in the end of the yarn that you’ll be sewing in later or carrying along with you until it’s worked over. Don’t forget when you cut the chenille yarn once your round is done you’ll want to do the same, just join the next yarn first and then tie that knot at the end of the chenille yarn. It really is worth it as it will stop all the fluff coming off :-) I tend to use my scissors and cut off any excess yarn after the knot otherwise you’ll still find some fluff coming off.
Yarn Amount Adjustments
Made extra pom pom as was trying to get a better one. This means 7g of the yarn total for Seafoam Blue is on this and the hat only needs one. This means to make this hat you only need 23g approx and not 30g as yarn total says.
Don’t forget yarn amounts used could vary depending on your tension but this is what I personally used. I advise making sure you have a little extra yarn when making yours just in case.
Pom Pom Notes
I used my clover pom pom maker, from the set called small. I used the 45mm pom pom maker to create this pom pom for this hat. For me it’s the perfect size although you could go bigger if you wanted too.

I’ve also included photos of the baby hats I made from this pattern, so that includes the links to the hats above. After these photos you’ll then see it starts with my work in progress photos of this hat, finishing with finished photos and photo collages (so the top of the photos, technically the end).
