Teen/Adult small-medium Hat Take 2 :-) - adjusting height of hat. please note the pattern now has these changes

Here is a link to the original hat I made, please bare in mind the pattern has now been adjusted and this is why this current hat was made to check the adjustments. I have included this link as it shows the hat with the matching cowl which I thought you might like to see.

Pattern Notes

I love this hat, it’s so comfy and cosy to wear. This hat fits me perfectly but it’s also easy to adjust if you need a little less height too. For example if you only need a tiny bit removed just edge the hat with one row instead of two and it still looks really good. This hat looks great with or without a pom pom :-) I choose a fairly big one for this but I was lead by the size of pom pom maker I had. Great thing is this hat is so easy to adapt to your own personal style, you can change up the colours, you can adapt the size of pom pom or even go without a pom pom and you can also make a slouch style too if you like. It’s a really great pattern and I love how it’s easy to adapt for all ages and sizes!

Top Tip

When using the chenille Chunky yarn make sure to tie a knot in the end, this stops all the fluff coming off. What I do is join the chenille yarn (in your preferred way) and then I tie a knot in the end of the yarn that you’ll be sewing in later or carrying along with you until it’s worked over. Don’t forget when you cut the chenille yarn once your round is done you’ll want to do the same, just join the next yarn first and then tie that knot at the end of the chenille yarn. It really is worth it as it will stop all the fluff coming off :-) I tend to use my scissors and cut off any excess yarn after the knot otherwise you’ll still find some fluff coming off.

Yarn Adjustments

Due to issues with pom poms the yarn amounts used to make this hat are slightly incorrect, but I needed to log all I used so my stash yarn amounts stay correct. The yarn that is different from logged above is below;

Candyfloss Pink Yarn: 127g logged but actual used for this hat is 74g.

Pom Pom Notes

Had some problems getting the right pom pom size :-( so ended up having to make a few to get it right. The pom pom I am using weighs 28g approx and I used my 85mm clover pom pom maker.

Wasted 53g on pom poms going wrong :-( so yarn amounts above include this so I can keep my yarn amounts in my stash correct. This means the amount under candy floss pink needs to have 53g deducted for the correct amount used for this hat.
