Notes

Starting this project to use some of my yarn samples of a new yarn from Three Bears Yarn called Rosie’s Acrylic Slub. I originally had another pattern in mind to use with the sample yarn but had problems with the pattern and wanted to get the project done quickly so I went over to this one which was on my short list.

I knew as soon as I saw these type of cushions how perfect this pattern would be for this yarn :-). I choose this pattern as it looked close to the type of ruffle cushion I wanted to make (I had seen one on Instagram I loved) and I saw a saved project under this pattern that made me know this was the right one to choose.

I am so glad I choose this pattern now, it’s been worth paying for the pattern as it’s written well and even though I am at the start it’s looking really good. It’s turning out just how I thought it would so I am excited to see it finished!

Important Notes

Side 1

Round 5 said that at the end I should have 36 TR (DC for me, as I work in American terms) but I didn’t, I only had 35. I double checked my work and could not see any errors so I solved this by adding another TR/DC as I did have a stitch for it to go into. So although I was repeating 1TR into the next stitch, 2TR into the next all the way around I did end it with 1TR. Obviously for me I call these all Double Crochet Stitches.

Round 11 said I should have 72 TR (DC for me) and to get this number count I had to end my round with 2 TR into one stitch and 1TR in the next 4 stitches. Usually the repeating stitches end with 2TR into one stitch so I’ve had to skip this.

Following Rounds - I’ve noticed this is happening every round now, so rather than completing the repeat sequence you do this but don’t end with 2TR. You then get the correct stitch count at the end of each round.

Side 2

I have found to get the correct stitch count on these rounds that I also have to skip the last 2TR. The pattern says to repeat a certain stitch sequence and I do this all around, the only exception being at the end I don’t end with the two stitches within the same stitch. By doing this I get the correct stitch count. I am sure this is correct because the round starts with two stitches in one stitch so it becomes the same repeated sequence all around.

I am not sure if this mistake is mine or the pattern’s but thought I would write down what I did, in case it helps me or others when making this pattern.

Design

I have decided to use the same three colours from side 1 on side 2 as well. I loved how the back of my side 1 looked and it was a shame I was going to loose that. So even though this pattern uses one colour for side 2 I have decided to use all 3 colours from side 1 :) and I’m going to do the same design as the front, by this I mean doing each round in a different colour in the same colour order as the front. It’s already looking fantastic so I’m pleased I did this :) I do think a solid colour side 2 would look good too though!

Have had to stop this project tonight :( as I ran out of the blue yarn I needed to finish the last round on side 2. I lost at yarn chicken :( and I was SO close too…frustrating!

Will have to wait till I can get more yarn to finish this project now, so it’s on hold till then.

ON HOLD TEMPORARILY

May 18, 2016

Got the yarn delivery :) so I can finish off this cushion cover. Took photos today of where I was at when I had to stop due to running out of yarn, adding them now. Caked the new yarn today and will be working on this project tomorrow :) I can’t wait!

Tonight I finished the last round of side 2 and sewed in all the yarn tails. I also sewed in the last two yarn tails from side 1 so they are now ready to crochet together to make the cushion cover, which I’ll do tomorrow :).

Finished my cushion today :). Will get good photos tomorrow and update yarn amounts too.
