The plan is this: knit a garter stitch square, beginning with one stitch, increasing one stitch each row until big enough, and then k2tog each row until one stitch is left in the needle.

Then, I will pick up stitches along all four sides, make a provisional cast on for the edging, and knit it attaching it to the picked up stitches at the same time.

March 3rd 2012: I increased until I had 201 stitches on the needle, and began decreasing until there was only one stitch on the needle.

Then began to pick up stitches along the ridges, 3 stitches every 2 ridges. (First ridge, pick up and knit one, second ridge, pick un and knit in the front and the back).

There are 200 ridges on the blanket, 100 on every one of the four sides, so I picked up 600 sts, 150 on every side.

Then began to knit the border repetitions. Each repetition takes 4 picked up stitches, so I got 36 repetitions on each side, with 2 stitches remaining.

I have to think how to knit the corners. Maybe I will tink one row or two of the first side. Lets’s see.

March 7th: I’ve run out of yarn! Oh my god, it was all so well calculated… and yet I still have 30 border repetitions to go.

I have finally knitted 36 repetitions in every side, with 3 repetitions in 6 stitches on the corners (2 sts per repetition). It looks great and unfinished. I’m looking for another ball of yarn right now.

March 31st: I’ve finished it! I finally found another ball of the same yarn, although not the same dye lot, but they’re very similar, no one can spot the joining point between the two different dye lots.

I finished the repetitions and joined the border with kitchener stitch. Weaved the ends in, and voilà!

I will try to write a quick pattern for this.
