Notes

November 1, 2011 All photographed, and hopefully blogged soon. In the meantime, here are some notes.

Overall, I’m pleased with how this sweater turned out. It’s a little large, but very wearable, soft, and cozy! I enjoyed working with the Quince and Co. Tern.

I pretty much followed the pattern, but worked the sleeves inside out, because I was getting some laddering working them from the reverse stockinette side. The other (unintentional) advantage of doing it this way for me is that my 1x1 ribbing is neater on the WS (which ended up being the RS in the end, if that makes sense).

If I were to make this again for myself, some modifications I’d consider would be:

  • Going down a needle size, so I wouldn’t have to worry so much about it growing when washed
  • Casting on fewer stitches, specifically for the back
  • Maybe working fewer raglan increases
  • Picking up for the collar immediately after binding off the body, without breaking the yarn - I saw this tip in someone else’s project notes, but unfortunately by that time I already broke the yarn and started the sleeves. I’m all for fewer ends to weave in. :)

Now blocking! It definitely grew some but I was able to get it back to close to its original size.

For the KAL in the Quince and Co. group.
