Notes

I had hoped I had enough yarn for this shawl because I had 3 balls of yarn, which was 1320 yards, and the pattern called for 1280 yards. I thought I was knitting to the proper gauge, which is 18 stitches and 26 rows per 4” square. Actually, I had thought I was knitting a little smaller than gauge at about 19.5 stitches per 4 inches.

However, I was about 2/3 of the way through the border when I discovered I wasn’t going to have enough yarn. Aargh!

So I ripped back and replaced the border with the one for Miss Lambert’s Shetland pattern for a shawl in the same book. I remembered that this border was scrunched up on the short sides of Miss Lambert’s Shetland shawl, so on the two short sides of this one, at the end of every 6th row and every 12th row, I knit the border stitch thru the back loop with TWO center panel stitches instead of one.

I ended up with 25g of yarn left, about 220 yards. I’ll post pictures when I have the time to block it.
