Notes

manfriend saw me knit my first squishagon, and asked if i could teach him how. what an enabler.

he also asked for a special puff, just for him, that will never go in the blanket. he went through my bag of scraps, looking for the softest stuff. he chose the malabrigo, obv.

i’m using any of my scraps that can approximate gauge, knitting skinnier yarns on 3.5s and chubbier ones on 3.25s. lightly stuffed! so far it seems to be working out.

this feels a bit like falling down a rabbit hole…

update november 15- i’m at 17 puffystuffs. i can feel the insanity rising.

update november 30- 42 puffs. they are definitely not completely consistent in size, and i have been playing around a bit with their proportions and techniques. i think i’ve settled on using twisted YO increases, adding a row of straight stockinette before beginning the increases, and omitting the final plain row before the bind off. i’m using a plain-ol three needle BO- i’m not a quick study with a crochet hook, and found it awkward.

update december 7- 60 puffs! also, love. i can’t believe i am not bored of these yet. i am really burning through my scraps… what will happen when i have no more???

update jan 26- 86 puffs. my pace has certainly slowed, but i haven’t stopped puffing.

update march 12- puff city, here i come. i’m taking this project on a few long trips and a knitting sleepover, so i’ll have a bunch more to add to the bucket when i get home. i think i am up over the first hundred now. woo!

update march 30- ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE PUFFS.

update june 4- i made 5 or 6 more at the guelph sexuality conference. i think i am going to join all the ones i have at the end of the summer, and have a lap blanket while i lazily puff some more stuffs. i’m running out of room for all these little buggers!

update aug 6- 123 puffs is the latest count!

update sept 14-I am back in school and have some seriously long classes, as well as a significant commute to my internship three days a week which all adds up to MORE PUFFTIME!! I made eight today.

update oct 1- 166 puffs. i think i am puffcelerating.

update nov 2- since i got addicted to socks, i kinda stopped puffing with the same voracity. im at 184. this is about the one-year mark, so if i keep a similare ppy (puffs per year) rate, i should be done by the end of 2014!

update may 17 2013- i havent made a puff in ages, but im starting to attach them together. it’s sort of amazing.

i assembed this, took it apart and assembled it all over again. tragic twist- I HATE IT. it’s warm and weird and it’s a good lap blanket but im definitely not making more puffs and i know how to make actual quilts now and IT’S BETTER
