I used the size 2 for the first 2 inches of ribbing, and then continued on with the size 1 for the rest of the sock… using up some of my sock yarn scraps, following the pattern I posted on my blog.

Notes:
He needs a FOUR INCH!!! heel flap for the sock to fit comfortably (who ever heard of a 4” heel flap???)
