US 8 - 5.0 mm DPN is for cabling.
US 9 - 5.5 mm is for the blanket.

I’m not a fan of cabling. It’s a bit too fiddly for me; however, the pattern knits up very quickly because you do the cabling every four rows once you finish the initial 10.

The honey bee colorway is very cheerful; it’s Big Bird yellow, but it really feels perfect for a baby blanket.

I’m already getting a lot of compliments on the blanket, and I only have maybe eight inches on the needles.

I screwed up in the middle of the pattern and ended up with a random row of garter stitch, so to make it look less like an oops, I am adding 8 rows of knit stitch. At least I caught on early in the cabling row, the garter stitch I mean.

I managed to lose my DPN. I have no idea where it went. Now my DPN set is down to four. Let’s hope the dog doesn’t find the lost one before I do…

Went into hibernation September 27, 2014, while I took a sock-making class.

Came back November 21, 2014, and decided to just finish it up. Probably should have ended on row 12 instead of 10, but oh well.

Had exactly 1 oz. of yarn left over after binding off.

I enjoyed how the pattern turned out. Still not a fan of cabling, but it was my first cabled project, so if you’re thinking about buying the Terrific Textures for Babies book, I’d recommend it.
