Notes

Feels enormous when I wear it! Very warm. Would like to try same pattern again, but this time in cobweb weight Shetland wool.

Originally intended to wear this for my sister’s wedding in October 2003 but didn’t get it finished in time. Did wear it for my cousin’s wedding a few years later.

For edging used “Elaborated print of the wave edging” from Miller, S. Heirloom Knitting, p.117.

Discovered that I had increased too much when knitting the outer section of the “centre”. Shawl likely to be very ruffled.

Blocked 6th December 2003. Cleared floor in top room, put down old shower curtain, then sheet folded in half. Washed shawl and briefly span it. Had to block it folded in half as no space to spread it out completely. Only just room when in half! Blocked to about 6 and a half feet diameter! Not too ruffled around edge and looks much better than before blocking.

Finished weight = 13 oz.
