Notes

I am mostly following the pattern except that I cast on 6 on double points and then increase each stitch the first round, then increase the next round by 5 stitches. I put the first leg onto waste yarn and then once the second leg finished then joined both legs with the body color (purple). I added a 4th needle to make it a little easier and then have just gone around with body color.
I wanted the arms to also be a part of the body so when the body got close to where I wanted I knit across the first two needles, flipped and purled across, knit row, then purl row and then just trailed the working yarn across what would be the armhole and did the same thing on the other 2 needles. This created a V on each side. I put all those stitches on waste yarn to save for later. I totally improvised all this so my instructions might not make sense! To make the arms I picked up 4 stitches on each side of the V, cast on 4 stitches to have a top of the arm, joined with the body and then knit in the round (12 stitches to make it easy), then changed to other color to make the hands. Once those were as long as I wanted I decreased each stitch on the needles down to 6 stitches, then thread a needle through each stitch and draw tight to close the hole. Do the same on the other side. Now the arms a all one piece with the body!
Now go back and pick up the stitches on the waste yarn and also add the stitches from the top of the arm, I also picked up a couple extra along that seam so there wouldn’t be any holes. You’ll have an odd number of stitches, it doesn’t really matter. I think I ended up with like 43? Knit all around one round. Then you can start decreasing to get back to the 34 that you started with. I usually figure out how many total I need to decrease and then divide that by how many needles I’m working with. Then I space the decreases on each needle. Like if I need to decrease 10, it doesn’t divide evenly between 4 needles so I’ll decrease 2 on each needle, at the beginning of the needle and the end of the needle. Then the next round I’ll keep the decrease going until I get back to the amount of stitches I want to be at. Confusing?
