Notes

Attempted this with a thin boucle cone yarn that had been in stash since 2005 because of the ample yardage on the cone. It was more difficult to handle than working with a smooth yarn but even so it only took two days to crochet the cape.

It has an overall look of chainmail, since there is a lurex strand along with the nubs of boucle and the metallic blue color. I think this cone yarn was initially intended for weaving (had to cover part of tension finger with band-aid due to abrasion) but it provided unique character, texture, good body and drape to this version.

Maybe it can be worn at a Renaissance festival or ye olde merrie feast or in a play or in an historical reenactment … or as something special at a holiday party!
