Notes

May 29 finally found the right size needles! three gauge swatches later! casting on in the car on the drive to Newport, RI

May 30 ripping. I see that my cables somehow went wrong- I read the chart from right to left the whole time, instead of reading from left to right on wrong side rows. When I ripped I saw that this was coming out super super huge, so I went down from a medium to a small- I hope that’s small enough

June 1 still a little worried that this will be too big, but got a lot of cabling done in the past few days. the car ride home from RI was very productive- I’m just about through with the middle section of cable, one more loop-de-loop to go before the garter stitch

June 21 OMG I WANT TO CRY IT IS HUGE. Trying to figure out how to fix this thing- rip or steek. ugh.

August 7
So Great Aunt Judy, who was a professional knitwear designer back in the day, came to my house for my grandma’s 81st birthday party, and took a look at the sweater. She was going to help me re-block it, but when I tried it on again I realized that it was not nearly as huge as it had seemed in the midst of my dramatics. Now it’s only a matter of finding buttons and making straps and sewing in ends, and this should be done! I’m also thinking of picking up a lace t-shirt to wear under the cami- I don’t want to sweat on it or get deodorant stains all over, so that might be my best bet.

This is essentially finished, still, however I am procrastinating putting on the sleeves and sewing in the ends. It should be done just in time for winter :/ I got the perfect buttons for it though- eight little white circles- very simple, very classic. I can’t wait to wear this thing, but I’m dreading the finishing!

Rediscovered this almost-finished project. Buttons are sewn on and it’s been blocked- just needs straps. I can’t find the yarn- maybe I ran out and that’s why I stopped working on it? I am thinking that I’ll just get ribbon and make ‘sleeves’ out of that so this is wearable.

In good news, over the past 10 years I’ve gained enough weight that this now fits perfectly so… that’s something.

Finished today. Went to M&J trimmings and picked up some ribbons for the straps. Now it’s done!
