Notes

Made these with some bavarian twist stitch patterns from the lovely book by Maria Erlbacher.

I originally made the first mitt with a simple ribbed finish across the fingers. I also was experimenting with adding three short rows to the palm to raise it on the inside, as I often find my fingerless gloves pull down on this side. Then I decided I’d rather have them with part fingers, so frogged and reknitted the finish of the first one to match the second. I am using the term “match” loosely as there is one finger that isn’t identical. I closed the oniony motif on one hand and opened it up into the ribs on the other. The fingers also worked out a lot neater on the second pair as I got the hang of closing up the holes at the base where there are purl stitches, which I’ve not done much before.

Still, I love everything about these - the Madtosh, the motifs, and the colour. They’re also very snug, and remind me why it’s worth making the extra effort to add the part fingers sometimes. Yay!
