Notes

I’m knitting with 2 mm needles, so I will probably need to block the scarf before the yarnovers really show up.

I’m making the scarf at about half the width of the pattern. To save on yarn, I’m also only kniting 4 garter stitch rows for the spacer rows. The number in bold for each day is the total of number of stitches needed for that section.

Dec 1: CO 47 stitches (6 edge stitches, plus 1 stitch at the beginning of the lace pattern--the one outside the chart box--plus 4 repeats of 10)

Dec 2: Decreased one stitch on the first spacer row. Increased 2 stitches in the last spacer row. This is a net of 1 increased stitch. 13x3=39 for the pattern repeats, +3 stitches outside the chart, + 6 for the edge stitches = 48.
But then I ripped it out because I hate working with the nupps. I may just skip this section.

Dec 3: Decreased 2 stitches on the spacer section. 6x6=36 for the pattern repeats, +4 for stitches outside the chart, +6 edge stitches = 46 stitches.

Dec. 4: increased 4 stitches on the spacer rows. 12x3=36 for the pattern repeats +6 edge stitches + 8 stitches outside the pattern repeat =50 stitches

Dec. 5: increase 1 stitch during spacer section: 11x3=33 pattern repeat stitchs, + 12 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 51 stitches.

Dec. 6: decrease 1 stitch during the spacer section: 6x7 = 42 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 2 stitches outside the pattern repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 50 stitches.

Dec. 7: decrease 3 stitches on the spacer section: 10x4 = 40 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 1 stitch outside the charted repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.

Dec 8: increase 4 stitches on the spacer section. 9x5= 45 + 6 edge stitches =51 stitches.

Dec 9: decrease 4 stitches on the spacer section: 4x10 = 40 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 1 stitch outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.

Dec 10: increase 2 stitches on the spacer section: 9x4 = 36 for the pattern repeats, + 7 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 49 stitches.

(Note: I actually skipped day 10 in order to save on yarn, but I’m putting in the math for anyone following along.)

Dec. 11: decrease 3 stitches on spacer section: 3x10 = 30 stitches for the pattern repeat, plus 10 stitches outside the repeats, plus 6 edge stitches = 46 stitches.

Dec 12: No increases or decreases. 20x2 = 40 stitches for pattern repeats, plus 6 edge stitches = 46 stitches.

Dec 13: Increase one stitch on the spacer section. 10x4 = 40 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 1 stitch outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.
(skipped day 13 as well)

Dec 14: Decrease 2 stitches on the spacer section. 8x4 = 32 for the pattern repeats, + 7 outside the pattern repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 45 stitches.

Dec 15: Decrease 4 stitches on the spacer row. 21x1 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 14 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 41 stitches.

Dec 16: Increase 2 stitches on the spacer row. 9x2 = 18 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 19 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 43 stitches

Dec 17: Increase 4 stitches on the spacer section. 8x4= 32 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 9 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.

Dec. 18: Dec 3 stitches on spacer section. 6x6 = 36 stitches for pattern repeats, + 2 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 44 stitches.
Note: you could alternatively add an extra pattern repeat by increasing 3 instead of decreasing for 50 stitches if desired.

I skipped days 19-22 (math is below for reference). I did day 23, then went back to do day 2, because I really liked it and regretted not doing it, and then I did most of row 24, skipping the last 6 rows.
Dec 19: Increase 3 stitches on the spacer section: 3x10 = 30 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 11 stitches outside the pattern, + 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.

Dec 20: Decrease 1 stitch on the spacer section: 8x4= 32 stitches for the pattern repeat, + 8 stitches outside the repeat, + 6 edge stitches = 46 stitches.

Dec 21: Decrease 5 stitches on the spacer section: 3x11 = 33 stitches for the pattern repeats, + 2 stitches outside the repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 41 stitches.
Note: Another option is to do 4 pattern repeats instead of 3. In this case you would increase 6 stitches on the spacer section, for a total of 52 stitches.

Dec. 22: Inc 2 stitches on spacer section. 11x3= 33 stitches for pattern repeats, + 4 stitches outside repeats, + 6 edge stitches = 43 stitches.

Dec. 23: Inc 4 stitches during spacer section. 10x3 = 30 stitches for the pattern repeats, plus 11 stitches outside the repeats, plus 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.

Dec. 24: No increases or decreases. 10x3 = 30 stitches for the pattern repeats, plus 11 stitches outside the repeats, plus 6 edge stitches = 47 stitches.
