Cast on for this sweater at 12:03am during a friend’s NaNoWriMo party!

Gauge has been an issue-- I went up 3 needle sizes and got the same gauge. After battering the washed swatches around I was able to get a little bit closer to gauge, so we’ll see what happens.

I skimped on the yarn purchase for reason I can’t fathom, now, so I hope I don’t run out of yarn!

Began the 2nd cable on row 7 so it would mirror the first.

November 9th, 2009: Completed the sleeves last night, now I am only a day behind. I am worried about my yarn consumption-- the sleeves took .6 more skeins of yarn than I anticipated. Hopefully I’ll loosen up my row gauge during these miles of stockinette in the body. Sleeves took 4.6 skeins.

1 skein on the body gives about 3.5”.

November 22nd, 2009: About halfway through my yarn, but I think about 75% through my sweater. I’ve got both sleeves, the back, one side complete, and one side missing only the shoulder done. Left to do is the remaining shoulder, both front patch pockets, and the cabled trim. Cables slow me down a lot, and I’m thinking that if this sweater doesn’t get done it’ll be due to the trim. We’ll see, though!

November 27th, 2009: All but collar/trim! Normally that part would take me a week to do, so we’ll see if I can finish in time.

December 2nd, 2009: Finished! I think I should have made the sleeves bigger since I wanted more of a jacket, but it’s still comfortable. I just need to figure out how to close it. I am thinking a shawl pin, for adjustableness.
