Notes

January 4, 2015

I’m still knitting. This pattern is hard to take in-progress pictures because it is knitted in the round. Thus, it looks like a large slouchy hat. :o)

Other projects have slowed me down but I’m back at it.

November 21, 2014

The increase before the E charts moved me to a 24 inch circular needle. Yay! My setup includes stitch markers signaling the charts (4), every 20 stitches, and beginning of the round.

General notes observed thus far:

  1. Leaving the YO in the shawl are awesome. They make it easy to identify when it’s time to add a bead.

  2. When adding beads do it exactly as shown in the pattern.

The last observation may seem obvious but I found adding the beads as I go a bit awkward. Now that I’m adding as directed I’m moving along nicely.

Stopped at Row 67.

For the D charts I am knitting with two circular needles. The stitches for each chart are on separate needles (i.e., D1 on a needle, D2 on the other). I also have stitch markers on every 20 stitches with guidepost markings on my chart. The two paired together are making it move along fast. I’ll start the E charts tomorrow.

Stopped at Row 52.

I started. Following the project notes of others I took some time to prep. I printed the pattern and I pre-marked the first five charts.

I did not use the cast on method provided. I used the Emily Ocker cast on and worked through the beginning of Chart D.

Stopped at Row 31.

Excited and nervousness is consuming me. I seen this shawl and couldn’t shake the image of it. After reading the project comments I realized it is a fully charted pattern. I’ve never knitted by charts. Thus, I attempted to walk away but I couldn’t…

Armed with yarn from my Yarnbox, a pattern holder, a pattern book from a wonderful subbie, and topped with pure audacity to think…dream…hope to have one of these for myself.

I will call her…The Big Bang for now. Because I am to finish it by December 31, 2014. I plan to end the year with a BANG!

Oh…and I’m entering this project into the Yarnbox KAL which starts November 17, 2014. Here I go…
