I made this hat mostly while waiting in the car to board the ferry home from holiday. It was a long wait - nearly two hours, so I had plenty of time to spare.

I based it on the Gumdrop pattern but I was working from memory so any mistakes are all my own!

I used the 6.5mm hook and made 6sc into a magic circle and worked in a spiral, adding 6 stitches each row until about row 7 or 8. I then used sc without increases until the hat reached midear. Then I used front post single crochet, followed by a row of sc, an increase row (sc 8 then 2sc in next sc, all round) another row of sc, then another inc row (sc 9 then 2sc in next sc, all round).

I rather like it. I added the flowers afterwards for effect, using the 5mm hook. 6sc into magic circle, sl st into 1st sc, ^2 half dc into same st, sl st into next st^ repeat from ^ to ^ until finished.
