Notes

Cast on for the 39” size to get 35” with my gauge of 4.5 sts/in and 24 rows/4 in.

At the end of the cowl section I placed markers as described. Then as I began to do the first increase row I did some short rows across the back of the neck (w&t every 6th stitch) so the sweater would sit better on me--wish I had done this for lightweight pullover.

Had do add some plain knitting rows in the raglan section to accommodate for the extra rows I was getting in my gauge: for the first three pair of increase rows and plain knitting rows I kept those as they are written in the pattern (one increase row followed by one plain st st row) as it’s better to have more frequent increases when you’re going over the shoulders. For the remaining increase rows I did one increase row followed by two plain knitting rows until I reached the number of stitches per section (45-70-45-70). Thank you Barbara Walker for telling me how to do this in “Knitting from the Top Down”.

Sleeves are knit straight, no decreasing. I ended with a knit one row, purl one row, knit one row, then BO in purl.
