blocking on feb 28th; better pictures to come!
using the yarn i got from the falling stars kit…
i cast on for the 40” bust size because i want the sweater to be a little loose on me…i’ll make adjustments as i go. hoping to get an inch done a day…but we’ll see. it takes a while to get an inch with 280 stitches right now. also not doubling the yarn since i’m using a heavier weight.
gauge is 28sts/44rows = 4”--my row gauge is off by 4 rows from what the pattern says, so i’ll be knitting a little more but i’m going to make adjustments as i go so it is the length i want
jan 4-knit a total of 2 1/4” inches--slow going
jan 10- took a measurement, i’m up to 8” but…i am seriously thinking of taking out my cast on row (yeee gadsss) and making the bottom inch in garter stitch. i don’t like the way the fabric looks if i were to sew the bottom inch under to make a hem…
jan 20th: cast off on sides for sleeves, still need to rip out bottom and redo the bottom inch. going to do the sleeves first to make sure i like the look and then i’ll have the same edge on the sleeves and bottom of sweater.
i also didn’t do any increases, i just kept decreasing until i got to the right number of stitches for the 36” bust size. i hope this wasn’t a mistake…i have a small fear that the sweater may look like a bell on me…
i left out the lace detail on the sleeves. it didn’t seem to really fit the rest of the design
finished one sleeve jan 31st
finished second sleeve feb 4th
undid cast-on edge, re-knit a 10 row garter edge in its place. this took about a week to do. longest part was undoing the cast-on edge…wasn’t hard, just very time consuming.
joined sleeves to body on feb 9th i think…
need to arrange colors for yoke. did 3 rounds of knit in main color before starting bands of color
order of colors from bottom up:
Iris Heather-cc1
Hyacinth-cc2
French Lavender-cc3
Huckleberry Heather-cc4
Mulberry-cc5
Eggplant-cc6
started colors on feb 13
finished knitting feb 27. need to sew seams, weave in ends, and block.
did some garter ridge rows for top of neck before binding off…this section is a tad loose, but i don’t mind. if i were to knit this again, i’d go up one needle size on the arms, they are a tiny snug, and i’d make them an inch or two longer. i’m hoping the bottom stays flat after blocking. it kept flipping up when i tried it on before i weaved in all the ends.
also, i was afraid it would look like a bell on me, but it fits fine.
