Test knit - version 2

Beads 10/0

MODS
In order to keep the eyelet edge just before the three st garter border when the chart begins, I changed the last two knit sts in the chart prior to the border to ssk yo. Knitting them both made the left edge of the charted section look wider than the right border and the border leading up to and following section.

6/9 update
Knit three of the charted section. I think I’d like it better with four, but I want to get this finished on time.

Did a swatch of the ending stripes section to see if I could figure out a way to add beads to it, preferably down the yo rows, but since I am adding beads after the fact rather than stringing, I couldn’t make it work without closing up the eyelets. I should finish up the first half tomorrow and plan to add beads to the ending eyelet rows if I can make it work.

6/10
First half finished and dryblocked for photos. I added beads to the k2tog stitches on the last RS (eyelet) row before the bindoff. Used the recommended bindoff of k2, pass back to left needle and k2tog tbl.

6/26
Finished and blocking. Second half went pretty well. You can see where the provisional c/o is halfway through, because the yo holes are a bit bigger, but it will not be noticeable when worn. I’ll get a modeled pic up when it’s done blocking.

Here is the summary:
-Knit the beginning stripes to approximately 28 cm unstretched.
-Knit 3 of the dayflower charts (subbed ssk,yo for two knit stitches on the left of chart to maintain eyelets before the garter edge).
-Knit the bellbottom as written.
-Added beads to the k2tog sts at the end before the bo.
-Finished length 54”.

The stripes bias pretty dramatically while you are knitting, but they seem to block out fine. I suspect substituting ssks on one side and keeping k2togs on the other would balance it out, but it is faster to knit the k2togs. Something to think about.
