The main body front has a skull motif and a diagonal line pattern that continues around the back. See attached photo for motif. I did not fill in the squares for the main color- you may want to redraw this to make it easier to read on some graph paper. The diagonal pattern features 2 MC stitches between each CC stitch when reading horizontally. Between the front and back motifs, the 2 purled stitches are the main color.
To make the concert size (see notes at end), I did the following:
MAIN BAG
Cast on 84 stitches. At the start and at 42 stitches, I placed a marker.
I worked in pattern as given to 18” in length.
I worked a decrease round, then 5 rounds in pattern. Repeat for a total of 8 times to end with 48 stitches.
Continue in pattern until bag measures 40”.
FLAP
Cast on 40 stitches. Work in garter stitch for 8.5”.
After felting the bag down as small as it would go, I traced the outline of it on some inexpensive cotton fabric and cut a quick lining that I then sewed in.
Velcro was added to the flap and the inside of the bag for a secure closure.
NOTES
I think if my yarn would have been a tiny bit thinner, this would have felted down to the perfect concert size. However, its just a touch big for my concert, and perfectly fits my tenor. But its overall a nice and easy pattern to work and I can use it with both my ukes- its much thicker and more padded than my commercially made gig bag is.
I will likely try again with the suggested yarn instead.
