Notes

This plane was displayed at the Maths Craft Festival at the Auckland Museum.

I cast on 22 chain stitches and crocheted for 19 rows. The final (yellow) row contains 1221 stitches and measures 3.05 metres in length (and used 32 metres of yarn). The whole plane is made up of 7239 stitches.

(You can calculate all of these numbers using a geometric series where the first term in the series is the number of chain stitches you cast on and the common ratio is the increase you used: in other words if you increase one stitch every N stitches, the ratio is N+1/N.)

Note that I didn’t do any increases on the final (yellow) row for asthetic reasons (I wanted it to look as even as possible).
