06/01/17: To cut a long story short it felted, I’m fed up with it, I won’t knit sleeves onto it, it’s done. I’ll wear it mostly in winter under winter clothes to keep me extra warm.
06/05/16: I have a storebought cashmere sweater that I really love. But it’s getting thin in some areas, had to mend a few holes in the side seams and under the arms… So I decided I will reknit the thing. Have some cone yarn that should be fine. It’s slightly darker but also has a cashmere content and from other projects I have knit with it I know that it will bloom nicely and get a similar (though lighter) fuzzy look eventually.
Been swatching back and forth and washing like crazy because with cone yarn blocking makes a huge difference. Settled with 4mm needles for now. Looks floppy while being knit but once soaked thoroughly it blooms and feels nice and soft.
14/05/16: been making good progress but I had the impression it is too wide… Measured it and compared with the original and - yes :( My gauge is off by one stitch, 25 instead of the initial 26 stitches. Maybe it is change of tension or the swatch was too small or whatever. Having knit about 30cm there is no way I’m going to restart! The difference is about 2cm for each front and back. I’ll be brave, add a few rows here and there and give it a go in the wool cycle of my machine over here which has a tendency to lightly felt/shrink garments. Bonus: it’ll get even fluffier :( Let’s see how it all turns out…
