Notes

This skirt was so much fun to knit!

Each chart was easy and straightforward (except for the typo in chart D -- just move the last twist stitch one space to the left. It’s obvious when you get there). The charts were quick to memorize, so you don’t have to be staring at the pattern the whole time.

After chart A and B I decided the fabric was too loose, so I switched to a size 1 needle.

I worked only 7 repeats total for chart C, then 7 repeats for chart D. I wanted the non-lace D section to be long enough that I don’t have to wear a slip!

Instead of casting off, I worked single-crochet around the edge, working a stitch into every live loop.

For the trim, to make it lie down the right way work into the back-facing purl bumps, not the front-facing ones. I used size 10 crochet cotton, doubled.

The fabric felt a bit rough and scratchy until I washed it . I washed gently in the machine, then partly tumble-dried on low, then finished by blocking the still-slightly-damp skirt on a towel. Now it’s soft and looks great!
