oh I am in love with this shawl!

Despite the fact that it is truely a tardis.

My mom bought this yarn and asked for the biggest shawl possible with enough width for her to pin it over her shoulders. I tried to design my own pattern three times but nothing cooperated. I generally hate variegated yarn.

Finally I went for it with this pattern. After running ou of yarn, I ripped back to chart row 34 and skipped 35, 36, 39, and 40. Then I used Turkish lace instead of stockingette to stretch the yarn. I winged the short rows to use up the yarn and give the shawl as much depth as I could. I love a picot BO.

I love how the lace portions meet up with each other.

I also think the lace looks more like feathers than thistles which is great because feathers represent my mom’s dad now that he’s gone. :)
