Notes

FINALLY finished!!!!
Mods:

  1. Added 2” length before waist decreases.
  2. Collar is knit as 1x1 rib for 4”
  3. Belt is 3 stitch i-cord, not crochet chain.
  4. Unintended mod - decreased a tad more than was necessary or called for, but it’s fine. Picked up 95 sts. on collar instead of 106.

Needs buttons.

Project Notes:

11/30/08: The body is almost 15 inches long. I put it aside for now, so I could knit up the sleeves. The first sleeve is done, but it’s too long. Then, while knitting the second sleeve, I realized there was an error in the first sleeve. Dammit. So of course I will have to rip the first one back about 2/3 to correct after I finish the second.

12/7/08: Well the 1st sleeve was fine, it was my counting that was off. Thank goodness. But now I am stuck because I can’t figure out how to attach the sleeves!

Set aside for a really long time. One year later…

Resumed knitting 12/7/09. Took this to my Spin Group to get advice on attaching the sleeves. Got them on and merrily started knitting, only to see after 3 hours and at least 12 rows (over 300 sts per row!!), there is a mistake in the lattice lace on one sleeve and now I have to rip it back to see what went wrong. Dammit.

12/29/09: Back on the front burner. Closer analysis reveals the problem was with the way I did the bind off on one sleeve. Fixed that.

1/3/10: After consulting with CathyZ, I realized I am not doing the decreases correctly. This discovery, after ripping down to the sleeve joins at least three times because of various mistakes and mistarts. Now I have to rip down again, for the 4th time. So far my knitting in 2010 is not off to a great start. But I forge ahead!

2/11/10: Finally finished knitting the yoke. I was really beginning to hate the yoke.

There are flaws in the knitting:

  1. buttonhole placement is too close to edge.
  2. somewhere while knitting that damned yoke the button band edge got kerfluey. Seems I didn’t slip the first stitch on the purl row in a clean manner, so it left little bumps. This only happened for about 2” and I was too fed up to rip it down (couldn’t face it after all the other tinking this yoke has experienced. Oh well.
  3. I don’t think my decreases were perfectly mirrored across the back, but I really don’t care.
