Notes

My first MKAL for a shawl. I really don’t think I can knit this shawl in a month, but I will do my best!
9/11/13: Yarn Arrived!
9/13/13: bought beads at AC Moore!

So as of October 28 I’m on the end if clue two. I’m hoping to have this done by Thanksgiving! Life and my carpel tunnel got in the way of finishing on time.

I took a month or so break from knitting this to get some holiday and winter knitting completed. I almost gave up on it.

January 18, 2014: I am in the middle of the picot bind off. I started the bind off on 1/15/14. It’s taking forever and I’m not happy with this project at the moment. I hope to like it once the shawl is blocked. It’s HUGE.

I renamed this project from Wednesday Adams to The Good Wife, seasons 1 & 2 because while I started knitting this in my Wednesday morning knit group, I quickly realized that it’s not a social knitting project for me. I had to focus on it more than usual to keep up with the ever changing pattern. Instead, I’ve been serial watching episodes of The Good Wife on demand at night when the house is quiet and I can focus on lace knitting. I watched all of season one and all episodes except the last two of season two while knitting this!

January 19, 2014: Finally finished the bind off! I can’t believe how long that took! Now to find the time to block this behemoth! The fifth and sixth pictures from the top are the finished shawl prior to blocking.

January 23, 2014: FINIS!!! After blocking this GIGANTIC shawl by pinning it to my living room floor (!) it’s finally blocked and dry and waiting for an occasion to wear it! I can’t believe I actually finished this.

I have lots of yarn leftover and only used about three tubes of beads (I bought five!) This was my first time using MadTosh lace yarn. Overall I liked it although it was a bit splitty at times. It blocks beautifully. This was hard to photograph to get an acurate portrayal of the color. The yarn is a grayish purple. I was going for the color of a bruise, and I think it works. However, after knitting it, I’d say it definitely isn’t spooky at all and is quite elegant.

I used a Fleegle Beader for the majority of the beading, one that I borrowed from a friend. It was a life saver for me, as I found using a crochet hook for beading to be annoying. I would definitely recommend the fleegle beader.
