An incredibly simple, elegant design. I made minor modifications:

I worked one fewer 2-row repeat than recommended.

Instead of fastening off at the end of the last row, I worked a row of single crochet across the top edge of the shawl for a neater edge with a sturdier feel.

At my friend’s request, I also added beads to the border. If I hadn’t ended up in a huge time crunch I probably would have beaded more heavily, but here’s what I ended up doing:

Starting in Row 3 of the border, I added a bead to each leg of the v-stitch. On Row 5, I added a bead on the outside legs of the v-stitch sections. Then I beaded each picot of the final row.

I had been skeptical about the beads, but now that it’s done I think it looks just lovely.
