Notes

a collaborative project with Lisa Anne Auerbach, Los Angeles based artist.

5-3-09 design completed and studio time scheduled for this coming saturday to work with Lisa Anne and fabricate the panels using her double bed knitting machine…

“One day we will look back and wonder…

What was life like before the cure?“

5-9-09 Met with Lisa at her studio and we knit using her processes and equipment. Everything seemed to go fine with the exception of a few boo boos - (the yarn broke once, the macine was acting wierd) until the end of the first sleeve - not only did I reverse the yarns switching foreground and background, but I also dropped one color and didn’t pick the other up which means, after moving the shuttle back across the needle bed that almost every stitch popped off the needles… about 3 hours later of frustration we were able to complete that sleeve.

5-10-09 I headed back to Lisa’s studio one more time to get the second sleeve complete. After one false start it was pretty quick moving - casting off is tedius but she was more than wondrful and did a lot of it for me. I did the last bit of it and it’s gorgeous! The sleeves are set in and it’s assembled -

5/13/09 turning hems and a neckline in the airport on the way to the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat in NY - neckline only if I decide to do it. I’m waiting to post photos until after the retreat…

5/21/09 - “borrowed” 2 photos of me wearing the sweater during the retreat “show and tell” - those photos by my pal Kenny (hi Kenny!) -

7/5/09 - did an impromptu photoshoot at home - to document and talk about the sweater online
