This is definitely the most interesting baby blanket I’ve made to date. For one thing it’s the first one which has been knit rather than crochet. A friend at work has just had her first child, and she’s very much a modern type - I looked for something unusual and this is what I found.

The pattern was far less complicated than it looks - once I’d done a few repeats I was able to dispense with the pattern altogether, the surrounding stitches told me what to do and when to do it. The border was a little tedious - 636 stitches of moss stitch at each end! Very much worth it though, it helps it to lie flat and looks great.

This yarn is superb, although not a baby yarn, it’s very soft and very robust, machine washable and tumble dryable - highly important for a baby blanket, I always feel.

Now to find some suitable wrapping paper…
