The first of hopefully four vests. This one will be the largest and the simplest. I’m modifying the pattern to work for a larger child, and am eliminating the initial on the front.

2012-11-06: Finished except for blocking. Collar looks too small to fit over a human head, so I may rip out the bind-off and look for a stretchier way to do it before calling it done.

2012-11-10: Ripped out collar ribbing, re-did it, and used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off, which worked beautifully.

2012-11-11: I neglected to think of the sleeves. They will probably need to be re-worked with a stretchy bind-off as well. My test subject found them tight.

This vest is a bit wonky. Some of that was cured by blocking, and some wasn’t. I think the results very clearly show my weakness in picking up stitches. It’s something to work on for vest #2.

Also, I had a miserable time with the DPNs on the collar. They slid around something awful and I kept dropping stitches as a result. Next time, bamboo instead of metal.

December update: I realized why so wonky. I misread the instructions for the back of the vest and didn’t knit enough rows. So, the top was all ripped out and re-done, and it’s so much better now.
